A government minister has addressed the case of a Waterford family who are unable to buy their house because they are on a disability pension.
Jenny Vereker and her husband Damien, who represented Ireland in the Paralympics last year, have had their mortgage application rejected as blind pensions are not accepted.
The family need to have an annual income of at least 15 thousand euros, a sum met when both their pensions are combined.
Minister for Disability Finian McGrath says he would be interested in personally helping the family.
The Independent Alliance TD says the case is not acceptable.
