This weekend marks 100 years since the sinking of two ships which departed from Waterford for Liverpool, causing the loss of 83 lives.
The SS Formby and the SS Coningbeg were torpedoed on December 15th and 17th, 1917, in a World War 1 attack.
67 of those who perished were from Waterford.
An ecumenical service has just gotten underway at Christchurch Cathedral and there will be a guided tour of memorobilia from both ships at the Bishops' Palace at 3:30.
