Waterford boxer feeling positive ahead of professional bout

The countdown is continuing to the first professional boxing tournament in Waterford since 1948. It will take place in the WIT Arena on Saturday, February 17th.

Topping the bill will be Waterford's Craig McCarthy who has won his first two bouts as a pro.

He told WLR Sport that his training in London with world champion Chris Eubank Jr and a new sponsorship deal have made a huge difference to his preparations. He says the knowledge and experience he got out of the training camp is "unbelievable", he added that he "feels like twice the fighter".

The Middleweight boxer feels they are ahead of schedule at the moment. He told WLR sport that he is a lot fitter than he was at this stage for the last two fights, "training has progressed a lot harder and it's just onwards and upwards".
