Protest march over cardiac services at UHW to take place in early February

All three local cardiac campaign groups, The South East Patient Advocacy Group, Health Equality for the South East and Cardiac Cover for the South East have combined for the 'Golden Hour March' on the 10th of February.

It'll walk from the Williamstown Centre to UHW.

Matt Shanahan is spokesperson for Health Equality for the South East.

Speaking to Dermot Keyes on the Saturday Show, he highlighted recent Freedom of Information findings which proved the Herity Report into cardiac services was based on inaccurate information.

"They (the department of health) gave instructions to Herity to base his findings on the Waterford population, not on the South East regional population," he said. "People need to understand that (UHW) is the regional cardiac, oncology and trauma centre. We all depend on that hospital."

The mobile lab's term at the hospital is due to end around the 15th of February. Matt Shanahan said that their march has been planned for the 10th, and they're asking people from across the region to attend.
