The Waterford TD says Stepaside Station is only being re-opened due to Minister Shane Ross' intervention.
The Public Accounts Committee said earlier this week that the decision was a political one, not based on policing needs.
Speaking in the Dáil, Deputy Cullinane said that the re-opening of the station was merely awarding the transport minister a 'trophy'.
"The government needs to understand that trophies do not make for sound policies," he said adding that the lack of political accountability was "par for the course in this State."
