Rents in Waterford City increase by 12%.

The author of a national report into rental costs says the government's National Planning Framework could have a positive impact on housing supply and demand in Waterford.

The latest daft dot i e report found that rents in Waterford City rose by 12 per cent over the last year and the average rent is now €835.

In County Waterford, rents were on average 9 per cent higher in the final three months of 2017 than a year previously. The average advertised rent is now €769, up 35% from its lowest point.

Trinity Economist Ronan Lyons author of the daft report says the National Planning Framework strategy which is due to be unveiled by the government this Friday should have an impact on construction in Waterford.
