There have been calls for boundary changes in County Waterford.

There have been calls for boundary changes in County Waterford.

Fianna Fáil's Michael J O'Ryan says it would allow for greater political representation as well as more funding for rural communities.

Of Waterford's three electoral areas the Comeragh district has six councillors while Dungarvan-Lismore has eight and Waterford Metropolitan has eighteen.

Councillor O'Ryan says more councillors are needed to properly represent the area, which stretches from Kilmeaden to Ballymacarbry.

He believes the Comeragh area often gets left behind and a boundary change would provide balance between the east and west of the county.
