Waterford Fine Gael TD John Deasy has sought clarification from the Finance Minister on the process around drawing down funding for the proposed redevelopment of the North Quays.

A two billion euro Urban Redevelopment Fund is to be created to fund projects in Waterford as well as in Cork, Limerick and Galway.

John Deasy says there was real sense of disappointment in Waterford last week that there was no specific announcements for the City in the National Development Plan.

He wants clarity from Minister Paschal Donohoe on the process around drawing down the money for the North Quays project.

Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe says he will be agreeing the access criteria over the next few weeks.

He said that will be completely predicated on the policy objectives of the National Planning Framework. He wants to have that work concluded with the Department of Housing, planning and local government across the next six to eight weeks and then to have the fund open for applications across the Summer.

Deputy Deasy says investors might have expected more clarity.
