Due to issues arising from the freezing conditions being experienced across Co Waterford Irish Water, following consultation with the HSE, has issued a precautionary Boil Water Notice for a number of water supplies in the county.
As a result of disinfection systems being compromised and reduced levels of Chlorine in some supplies, Boil Water Notices are being imposed on the following schemes with immediate effect as a precautionary measure:
Ballyknock
Kilcooney
Comeragh
Carrigeen
Ballyguiry
Grallagh
Customers supplied by these schemes should boil their water before use for drinking, preparing drinks made with water, preparation of salads and similar foods which are not cooked prior to eating, brushing of teeth and making of ice.

In addition, Irish Water customers in some parts of the county may begin to experience disruptions to their water supply this evening and into tomorrow.
Supplies affected include Ballylaneen, Aglish Glencairn and Carrowgarriff where there are already interruptions to supply. Customers are advised that any unnecessary water usage should be avoided at this time. In particular, leaving taps running should be avoided as this could lead to water outages or water quality issues where demand exceeds safe production capacity.
As per the instructions of the National Emergency Co-ordination Group (NECG), to ensure the health and safety of our workers and the local authority staff working in water services, there will be no staff available to respond to water or wastewater emergencies during the red weather warning called by Met Eireann from 4pm today.
The Irish Water contact centre will be available during these hours on 1850 278278 for customers to report outages. Calls will be logged for action after the red warning has been lifted. When the warning is lifted calls will be prioritised.
For areas who do lose supply, alternative water supplies will be mobilised after the red warning has lifted.
Irish Water working in partnership with Waterford City and County Council would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience this is causing and assures customers that repairs will be completed as soon as possible.
