Award winning and critically acclaimed Waterford Musical Society return to the Theatre Royal next May with the classic Musical, Fiddler on the Roof.
With music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, it is set in the small village of Anetevka in 1905 imperialistic Russia.
The story centres on Tevye, the father of five daughters and his attempts to maintain his Jewish, religious and cultural traditions, as outside influences encroach upon the family’s lives. Tevye must cope with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters, who wish to marry for love.
Fiddler on the Roof encompasses all the essential ingredients of a great stage musical. A strong storyline with moving & intense characters, moments of great humour and an exploration into the best of the human spirit.
