Residents on the Dunmore Road were evacuated from their homes on Thursday evening due to a suspect "device".
Gardaí have confirmed they were alerted to an incident at the Sycamores Estate on the Dunmore Road on Thursday afternoon at approximately 3:30 pm.
An area was sealed off and a number of residents were removed from their home.
The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit attended the scene and removed the device which was not viable.
The Unit has retained the device for examination and investigations are ongoing.
During the incident, Cllr John Hearne posted on Facebook reporting:
"Theirs a bomb scare in the Sycamores Estate on the Dunmore Road, some of the residents have been moved out and the bomb squad is on the way."
There have been no reported injuries and all residents have returned to their homes.
