Gardai seek witnesses to bomb scare in Waterford City yesterday.

The house at the centre of a bomb scare in Waterford City yesterday was attacked with a petrol bomb a number of weeks ago.

Gardai in Waterford are seeking witnesses after a device which was found to be un-viable was left on the back window of a house in the Sycamores Estate on the Dunmore Road.

The guards rececived an anonymous call at 3.45pm saying there was a device at the back of the house. During the investigation they evacuated a number of residents from their homes.

The army bomb disposal team were called to the scene and arrived from Cork at 7pm last night.

They said the device was not viable and retained it for examination.

No one was injured and everyone returned to their homes.

Gardai in Waterford are asking anyone who may have seen anything in the area either yesterday or the day before to contact them on 051-305300.
