Four men are due in court later today, charged in connection with a robbery in Waterford.

Four men are to be charged with the offence of Robbery at a special sitting of Waterford District Court this evening .

Following consultation with the Office of the DPP, directions have been received by Gardai to charge all four men arrested in respect of the Armed Robbery at The Cleaboy Post Office, in Waterford.

The incident occurred at 11.20am on Thursday when three masked men entered the post office armed with a sawn-off shotgun and demanded money.

They were detained by gardai in the Carriganore woods a short time later.

Gardai say in follow up searches of the Carraiganore area a substantial amount of cash was recovered.
