LISTEN BACK: Tánaiste; All alternatives and issues around the termination of pregnancy will have been fully thought through

The proposal to legalise abortion in Ireland includes a clause that will mean that all alternatives and issues around the decision to terminate a pregnancy will have been fully thought through.

Speaking to Eamon the Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney said: "My initial reaction to the proposal was a concern that this was unrestricted access to terminations, but when the heads of the bill that we are proposing to introduce were finalised, it’s very clear that there will be no restricted access to anything."

The Cork TD said what is going to be required will be a very detailed conversation between a woman and her doctor and at the end of the conversation, the woman and her doctor will have to sign off on fully formed consent.
