The beauty and diversity of African food, music and culture will be at the centre of today's Africa Day festivities.
"We have 54 countries in Africa," says Waterford Pan-African Association spokesperson Richard Awosika, "Nigeria is just one, but hosts over 200 tribes with over 180 million people, so that gives it the diversity of a continent. I've met (in Waterford) people from Cameroon, Ghana, Somalia, Sudan, Kenya, Uganda and South Africa.
Richard hopes that the Waterford public will embrace African culture today.
"We hope that a lot of people will come in for the fun. We'll have all sorts of peculiar African dishes available."
