The 7th annual Waterford Viking Marathon takes place on June 30th and it promises to be a day to remember for participants and spectators.

Over 3,000 runners will begin their full, half and quarter marathon routes at 9am from The Mall in Waterford City Centre, before they travel along Waterford’s two iconic bridges and the stunning Waterford Greenway.

Live bands and DJs will keep runners and spectators entertained along the route and there’ll be plenty of water stations to keep participants hydrated.

The finish line promises to be great craic for all the family. We’ll have a kid’s area and bouncy castle to keep the little ones entertained as well as a wood fire pizza van, HB ice-cream trailer, an ice-cream cone and slushie van also serving coffees and teas and live music.

The fun doesn’t stop at the finish line! After a quick rest and freshen up, everyone is welcome to attend the official Waterford Viking Marathon after party in The Reg Waterford from 8pm. There will be complimentary finger food at The Churchyard Sessions with Thank Funk Live, followed by DJ Shay Searson and a live band inside The Reg ‘til the early hours.

Here’s some more info:

RACE PACK COLLECTION - Collection of your registration pack and T-Shirt will take place at WIT Arena which is located in WIT West Campus, Carriganore, on Thursday June 28th 12pm to 6pm and Friday June 29th from 12pm to 9pm. While preferring you to collect your pack in person, we recognise that in some cases this may be impossible. You can nominate someone to collect your number for you. They will require your name and date of birth and the event you are taking part in. If you elected to have your bib number posted out when you registered online, then you should have received it or will shortly receive it by post. (If you haven’t received it by June 27th please contact us on [email protected] and we will make arrangements.) You will then be able to pick up your Goodie Bag and T-shirt after the race in the WIT Arena on the day- just make sure you have your bib number with you or you won’t be able to collect it

START TIMES - The Full Marathon, Half Marathon and Quarter Marathon will start at 9am sharp on the Mall in Waterford City. We advise all participants to be there in plenty of time.

PARKING - There will be no race parking available at the finish line event at WIT Arena in Carriganore. Race parking will be available at a designated car park on Carickpherish Road, Waterford. The car park will be clearly identified by signage.

TRANSPORT - A shuttle bus will be provided to transport runners from the WVM Car Park to close to the start point at The Mall in the city. The last bus to guarantee your timely arrival at the start of the race for 9am will leave at 8:15am. With so many runners across the full, half and quarter marathon races to be transported, do not leave it until the last minute! Buses will also be provided from the finish back to city centre and to the designated car park after the run. Supporters can avail of this to shuttle them out to the finish line.

BAG DROP FACILITY - There will be a bag drop facility in place in Bolton Street Carpark close to the Start Line on the Mall, Waterford City. The Bag Drop staff will take your kit bag before the race and will transport it to the WIT Arena finish line event. When retrieving your bag please have your race bib number with you to collect. Only one bag can be collected by a participant except in the case of the Team Event. We strongly recommend that you leave your valuables at home! Waterford Viking Marathon is not responsible for lost or stolen property, including all property checked at the Bag Drop.

Looking forward to seeing you on June 30th!
