Taoiseach says they're willing to support Waterford Airport's bid to restore routes

The Taoiseach has pledged support for Waterford Airport in the Dail.

It's now more than two years since the last commercial flight took off from Waterford.

Business advisory group, EY, began a review in May to assess the future of the Airport.

While the Irish Examiner reports that a business case has been put forward to the Department of Transport involving private investment.

Leo Varadkar made his comments as he was questioned about the second runway for Dublin Airport: "We are supporting Waterford Airport as best we can, though it does not have any flights any more. However, we think it is important that it is assisted in its efforts to encourage carriers to operate again between the south east and England."
