Hikers rescued from Comeragh Mountains

Tramore Cliff and Waterford Mountain Rescue Team carried out a rescue operation on Comeragh Mountains yesterday morning.

Two ladies from Cork got trapped on a ledge after become disoriented in a gully near the Mahon Falls.

The team was called out at 10.30am and responded immediately.

A climbing team abseiled down from the top of the Comeragh Mountains attached a Rescue sling, hoisted the two ladies to the top and guided them to safety.

Tramore Cliff and Waterford Mountain Rescue are advising people to take care in the mountains.

They say hikers should always have a fully charged phone, water, food, waterproofs, map and compass and good boots.
