Waterford's Thomas Barr is in action in the European Championships in Berlin later.

Waterford's Thomas Barr is in action in the European Championships in Berlin later.

The Olympian who has been in good form ahead of the championships, goes in the heats of the 400-metres hurdles just after 7pm.

This is the last of the three semis with just two from each automatically qualifying for Thursday's final plus the two fastest losers.

With a nice draw in lane five, Thomas faces seven other athletes including the inform reigning champion Copello from Turkey.

WLRs Athletics correspondent, Fintan Walsh says given the progress Thomas has made this season in each of his races and being ranked number five, just a fraction behind the third and fourth
ranked athletes,  he should make a bold bid for a place in Thursday's final.
