This year’s Leaving Cert results are officially out.
Pupils are now able to find out what they got by going into school – they’ll have to wait until midday though if they want to look them up online.
Almost 4-thousand pupils appear to have failed maths – a breakdown of the stats shows that works out as around 10 percent of all those who sat the ordinary level paper.
But Education Minister Richard Bruton doesn’t think there is a problem with how maths is being taught.
15 hundred leaving cert students from Waterford City and County are picking up their results today.
Dr Derek O’Byrne is the Registrar and Vice President for Academic Affairs at WIT is encouraging students to do their research and ask questions before committing to a course.
He says it’s often a more traumatic time for parents than the candidates themselves.
