Vital clash for Blues who take on Derry City in Airtricity League Premier Division this evening

Waterford FC are geraing up for one the biggest games of the season this evening in the Airtricity League Premier Division

The Blues travelled up North yesterday ahead of the clash against Derry City

Waterford are just a point ahead of Shamrock Rovers in third position, and three points this evening would be a huge boost in the quest for European football

Derry got the better of the Blues by a goal to nil last time they met at the Brandywell back in April, Waterford returned to winning ways last weekend with a 4-1 FAI Cup win over Skerries but are without a league win since a 3-2 win away to Sligo in late June

Noel Hunt the Waterford FC player- coach who scored a hat-trick against Skerries Town on Saturday last told WLR Sport his fitness is improving all the time.

Noel says Derry have had an inconsistent season but something they can't take for granted.

Noel told Matt Keane it was great toget back among the goals last weekend.

The action at the Brandywell is underway at 7:45pm, Matt Keane will have updates across the evening here on WLR.

Elsewhere this evening in the top flight, Dundalk can compound Cork's misery by moving top of the table.

The Lillywhites will leapgrog the defending champions at the summit, if they win at bottom side Bray.

It's a meeting of two of the bottom three where Limerick host Sligo Rovers.

The 8pm kick-off is a meeting of old rivals Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians in a Dublin derby at Tallaght Stadium.
