The Registrar at Waterford Institute of Technology says college courses in construction and architecture have become more popular again.
Dr Derek O’Byrne told WLR News that “every year there are some changes, in terms of what are our popular programme. We’re seeing a resurgence in areas like construction and architecture. There’s always very strong interest in programmes in nursing, we see increasing demand in the ICT area as well, and that’s one of the area where there’s real good career opportunities.”
However, he added that “you need to pick programmes and courses that you’re interested in rather than the popular courses. All too often we look at courses and think that’s a popular course – it must be a good course. The good course is the course that’s right for you.”
