Waterford father and son complete 31-day cycle 'Home to Rome'

Waterford father and son complete 31-day cycle 'Home to Rome'

Father and son, Arthur and Jordan Curry arrived in their final destination, Rome, earlier this afternoon after more than a month on the road.

Arthur Curry spoke to WLR News this afternoon and laid out their route.

"We set out from Rosslare, across Wales, England, we got a ferry from Dover to Dunkirk in France," he said before they took their mainland route through Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Germany Austria and into Italy.

"The last couple of days through the Tuscany hills were the hardest part. We were worried about the Alps, but the Apennines were the killer!"

Arthur and Jordan were motivated to take the journey, following the passing of Arthur's mother due to cancer last year.

"My mum was hoping to come and visit Rome some day when she got better," he said, "unfortunately that didn't happen. I thought that, as novice cyclists, people of Waterford might take interest in us... trying to make that journey on my mum's behalf and bring her spirit with us."

Arthur and Jordan are to arrive back home in Kilmeaden on Thursday.
