County Senior Football quarter-finals get underway

A Liam Ó Lonáin hat trick helped An Rinn to a thrilling 3-11 to 0-19 victory against Clashmore in last night's County Senior Football quarter-final at Fraher Field.

The Gaeltacht outfit were six points down after eight minutes but three Ó Lonáin goals and four points from Fearghal Ó Cuirrin left them 3-6 to 0-10 ahead at the break. Clashmore closed within a point on four occasions during the second half but couldn't find an equaliser.

An Rinn joint manager John Power felt that they were fortunate to escape with a narrow win. He said that Liam Ó Lonáin was the main reason that they made the last four.

The quarter-final action continues this evening. Ballinacourty will be strong favourites to see off Gaultier when they meet in Leamybrien. 'Courty booked their place in the last eight seeing off The Nire in their final group game in mid-July, while Gaultier secured a recent play-off win over Portlaw.
