A suspected brothel was searched in Waterford City yesterday as part of a Garda crackdown on organised crime.
Drug searches were carried out in four other premises.
In total 9 people were arrested or detained in Waterford City as part of Operation Storm yesterday.
Five people were held in relation to theft, two for robbery, one for sexual offences and another for court related offences.
Three others were interviewed voluntarily for prostitution and theft offences.
Five people were found to be in possession of controlled drugs.
During the course of the operation a total of 25 proactive policing patrols and 13 Crime Prevention and intelligence gathering checkpoints were carried out. A number of road traffic detections were made and two vehicles were seized.
57 summons were served with a further 10 bench warrants executed.
