A Waterford Senator says Ireland should be ambitious when it comes to harnessing off-shore wind energy.
Grace O'Sullivan was speaking this afternoon at the Joint Committee on Climate Action.
Representatives from ESB and Energy Sustainable Ireland are appearing before the committee to discuss renewable energy efficiency in Ireland.
Senator Grace O'Sullivan says Ireland could potentially be supplying energy to the rest of Europe: "We have, by all accounts, tremendous capacity in Ireland as an island nation with sea around us. To my mind, we should be very ambitious in this field because if we get it right, not only do we mitigate but also we could be supplying the rest of Europe. "
I'm back at #ClimateAction committee with @EamonRyan, hearing from #ESB, #SEAI and the @Dept_CCAE about how we need to transform our #energy systems if we're to get the #GHG reductions we need to avoid #climatechaos. You can watch live at the link below https://t.co/xMk9BszB6V
