Busy Halloween night for Waterford Gardai.

Busy Halloween night for Waterford Gardai.

Gardai in Waterford say there were no major incidents during Halloween celebrations last night.

A huge amount of pre-bonfire material was removed by Waterford Council from early morning to 10pm last night.

Fireworks were aimed at Gardai in the Richardsons Meadow area in Kilcohan, the Green area in Avondale
and the Crescent in St. Johns Park, however no arrests were made.

Gardai attended any bonfires with the Waterford City Fire Service.

A lot of wheelie bins were set on fire in a number of areas.

Sinn Fein Councillor John Hearne says there was a great combined effort from Gardai, Council and Fire Service yesterday.

He says the preventative measures are well worthwhile.
