Almost 9,000 cigarettes were seized from a cargo vessel in Waterford yesterday.
Officers from revenue found 8,800 cigarettes during the search of a ship in Belview Port.
The vessel is registered in Antigua and Barbuda.
The L&M Red cigarettes have an estimated retail value of over €5,280 representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €4,200.
