Major expansion announced at Bausch and Lomb in Waterford

One hundred new jobs have been announced at the Bausch and Lomb plant in Waterford.

The parent company has announced that it is to significantly invest between now and 2021 to expand contact lens manufacturing capacities at it's sites in Waterford and Rochester, New York.

They are adding multiple production lines at both the Waterford and New York sites to support the manufacture of its daily disposable contact lenses.

Waterford Minister of State John Halligan said the company's investment in its Waterford operation, reaffirmed Bausch and Lomb's commitment to the region:

He said B + L has a long and proud history since it first opened in Waterford in 1980, and this significant investment - following a previous 200 million dollar
investment between 2015 and 2017 which created 300 additional jobs - reaffirms its continued commitment to the county.

He said "Bausch Health currently employs approximately 1,350 people in Waterford and today's news is a great vote of confidence in the Waterford site, its local management and workforce and indeed what the region has to offer. I wish them well for the future."
