Waterford Council passes 2019 budget

Waterford City and County Council has passed its Annual Budget for 2019.

There will be no increase in commercial rates, while the local authority will aim to reduce its outlay by not replacing retiring staff.

CEO Michael Walsh said it will also aggressively target a reduction in travel expenditure.

A large majority of the chamber passed the budget with 24 votes to 7, with Sinn Féin and independent councillor Davy Daniels voting against.
