A Waterford abortion rights campaigner is seeking nominations for election to the City and County Council.
A seat is vacant on the local authority after independent Mary Roche's recent resignation.
She had intended on not putting anyone forward, but has since decided to nominate cardiac campaigner Matt Shanahan for the vacancy.
The council pact, made up of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Labour, can also nominate someone for the seat.
And Claire Cullen Delsol has announced she is interested in contesting the vacancy for City East.
She campaigned for repeal of the eight amendment as a director with Termination for Medical Reasons, a group centred around fatal foetal abnormalities.
Ms Cullen Delsol says a lack of resources at University Hospital Waterford is the driving force behind her decision to enter politics.
She hopes councillors will consider nominating her between now and Thursday's meeting.
