A new, colourful guide to the locations along the Greenway has been published by Waterford County Museum.
“The Towns and Villages of the Waterford Greenway” is full of stories, maps and photographs and was compiled by a number of local historians and photographers.
Willie Whelan of Waterford County Museum led the project.
“The scale of the history in each place is different,” he says. “Waterford City pops up on the world stage, you’ve got these broad sweeps of history. Whereas in places like Abbeyside or Stradbally they have a smaller, more personal history.”
He says the book is full of interesting information such as the foundation of Abbeyside by Thomas ‘The Ape.’
‘The Towns of Villages of the Waterford Greenway,’ can be bought at bookshops throughout the City and County.
