Staff at Waterford factory Cartamundi told a colleague has a case of Covid-19

Management at a factory in Waterford city which employs 300 people has said an employee has a case of Covid-19.

It was confirmed this morning that a male employee at Cartamundi, previously known as Hasbro, is being treated for the virus.

The company has a long-established factory on the IDA industrial estate in Waterford city.

They make board games, including Monopoly.

Staff were informed yesterday evening of the development.

They received a letter from the HSE's Public Health department which stated:

"There has been a case of Covid-19 identified in your area.

"The HSE public health team are investigating this incident and are identifying all relevant contacts of this case. All these contacts will be notified by the public health team ... if you are not contacted by the public health team, you have not been identified as a contact.

"Close contacts will be monitored daily for symptoms of Covid-19 and will be asked to limit their movements, including advised not to attend work for 14 days after their last contact with the case.

"Casual contacts will be advised about their risk and the symptoms of Covid-19 and will be asked to be aware of their own health for 14 days after their last contact with the case."

WLR confirmed more details of the news this morning but management weren't at liberty to divulge any information as to when he contracted the virus or whether he had travelled abroad.

It's also hasn't been revealed if he is an employee who works on the factory floor or is a member of management.
