"Dungarvan was like a rock concert!"

"Dungarvan was like a rock concert!"

Sean Power will never forget the homecoming that the Waterford minor hurlers received in the city and county the Monday after they lifted the Irish Press Cup in 2013.

“Addressing the crowd at Waterford Crystal looking over towards the Bishop’s Palace is something that will stick with me forever. When we moved onto Dungarvan that night, it got dark and Dungarvan was like a rock concert! It was that exciting when we got to Dungarvan! The reception we got in Waterford City was brilliant and Dungarvan was brilliant but both very different.”

The draw between Clare and Cork in the senior final gave the team the opportunity to visit Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin and Temple Street Children’s Hospital on Monday morning. “The senior team usually goes to the children’s hospitals with the cup but because there was a draw they were all going back home to train so we decided that it was our responsibility to call to Crumlin and Temple Street. We had a fantastic medical team and they really wanted to do it. Tony Madigan said, he was one of our First Aiders with the minor team, that the only bit of respite that those parents and those kids got was us coming in with that cup. It puts everything into perspective when you hear something like that. That was a very worthwhile thing that we did.”
