Senior Project Quantity Surveyors

About This Role:

Our company is looking to hire an experienced Project QS to work on specific projects across various sectors and sites; commercial, residential, hospitality and industrial. All current projects are based in Waterford City with a pipeline of over 2000 new homes, 600 student accommodation beds, 2 retail parks and various other commercial projects.

Primary Project: Former Waterford Crystal Site

We are developing a new landmark office building in the former showrooms on the old Waterford crystal site. This first project will lead on to subsequent buildings being developed in conjunction with South East Technical University (SETU) and the Irish Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As Quantity Surveyor, you will be reporting to the Commercial Manager and responsible for commercial aspects on a specific project across various sectors and sites
  • Measure, price, negotiate and agree budgets and costs for variations to project scope.
  • Subcontractor procurement and account reviews during the project.
  • Review of subcontractor documents and updating of templates, including appointment documents, payment certificates.
  • Review of supplier requisitions and accounts.
  • Preparation of monthly Cost Reports for management and external funders.
  • Attend monthly management meetings, report on commercial issues and offer opinions on matters arising.
  • Daily liaison with the accounts department.
  • Check project costs are correct and raise/resolve queries where necessary.
  • Management of commercial and contractual aspects of relationships with customers, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Assess subcontractor payment entitlement and process payments.
  • Carry out reconciliation of cost and value to date/forecast to keep the management team informed of project performance.
  • Manage project costs to ensure over all budgets are maintained and exceeded.
  • Look for opportunities to maximize revenue and reduce cost and identify and investigate losses.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Experience - Ideally within a main/specialist contractor on multi-story commercial projects.
  • Relevant third-level BSc in Quantity Surveying.
  • Experience as a quantity surveyor with previous experience with a main contractor (Office, Apartment / Housing and industrial).
  • At least 8+ years' post-graduate QS experience.
  • IT Skills – MS Office packages and database experience.
  • Ability to work well within a team and to collaborate with others.

Site Engineers

Region: Waterford City

Position Type: Full Time

The Role:

Based on projects all located in Waterford City, the successful Project Engineer will work in a support capacity to the contracts manager and have the following responsibility:

  • Interpret and check that all design documents are correct in line with project specifications.
  • Ensuring all drawings and quantities are in line with project calculations.
  • Setting out using GPS.
  • Liaising with all stakeholders, from client, architect, consultants, subcontractors, site management and workforce on site.
  • Attending regular client meetings and providing progress reports.
  • Effectively planning and co-ordinating works to be carried out on site.
  • Oversee quality and health and safety.
  • Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
  • Assure the quality of work on site meets desired specification.
  • You will as a Senior Engineer plan work efficiently ensuring strict deadlines are met.

The Person:

The successful site engineer will have prior experience, ideally working on residential projects and high-rise construction.

Min Experience - 4-5 years in the role.

Experience Required:

  • Experience planning and coordinating work to be carried out on site.
  • Any exposure to quality control and health and safety will be a distinct advantage.
  • Any 3rd level qualification relevant to construction, or a relevant trade qualification will be a distinct advantage.
  • Candidates must have a full driving licence.
  • Any experience setting out will be a distinct advantage.
