A Dungarvan group will celebrate the Irish language through Culture Night 2021

What is Culture Night, and when does it happen

Culture night, curated by the Arts Council, is a national movement. It celebrates all that makes up the richness and diversity of culture in Ireland today. Free events take place all over the country on this night, with Waterford City and County being no exception. This year, Culture Night takes place on September 17th. For all Waterford events, you'll find out more here.

Celebrating the Irish language in Dungarvan

To celebrate Culture Night 2021, the Dún Garbhán le Gaeilge committee is running an online event, Seal le Seanchaí. This is a night of story-telling and lore, both old and new, from Co Waterford. Local Seanchaí, Séamus Ó Lonáin will be the master of ceremonies and local storytellers Liam Suipéil & Déuglán Turraoin will also participate in the event which gets underway at 7pm.

Seal le Seanchaí is open to anyone who would like to sit back and relax and listen to stories and folklore, poems and songs. However, if you would like to contribute by telling a story, reciting a verse, or singing a song on the night, you can get in touch with the committee. This is a free event, but spaces are limited. Therefore, if you would like to join it for Culture Night,  September 17th, you can contact Cabríní de Barra at [email protected] to register.
