Aslan and Ukrainian refugees feature in new documentary

A new documentary following Aslan and members of the Ukrainian community working to record a charity single will air tonight.

The one-hour documentary, This is for Ukraine, will show the newly-formed choir recording their own version of Aslan's 1986 hit 'This is' with the help of the Irish Red Cross. The song will be released tomorrow at 9am on iTunes.

It will also tell the stories of the Ukrainian refugees that have arrived here in Ireland.

“This has been an incredible journey with Aslan as well as our friends in the Ukrainian community here in Ireland.  The song is absolutely beautiful – but is made stronger by the incredible contribution of the Ukraine choir that supported the group," Charlie Lanson, Head of Fundraising with the Irish Red Cross, said.

All money raised from the documentary will go to the Ireland for Ukraine fund, while money raised from the song will go to a variety of charities across Ireland and Ukraine.

Ireland for Ukraine is a united response from Irish media organisations to harness the generosity of the Irish public and ensure it reaches those who need it most.

Half of the money will be divided between organisations including the Irish Red Cross, UNICEF, Concern Worldwide, and Trócaire.

The other half will be made available as grants to charities and agencies in Ireland that work to help Ukrainian refugees with a range of essential needs.

You can watch This is for Ukraine tomorrow at 9pm on Virgin Media One.
