Last day to register for the Waterford Viking Marathon

Registration remains open until midnight for the 10th annual Waterford Viking Marathon.

The countdown is on to the event which takes place this coming Sunday 26th June.

The race takes place in Waterford City and County, including on parts of the Greenway. As with other years, participants have a choice of a quarter, half or full marathon.

Organisers are also offering virtual event that weekend (Thurs- Sun), so people can still take part even if they can't be in Waterford. Registration for the virtual event is now closed.

New route for the 2022 event


Following a review of the route at committee level, it's been decided the 2022 Marathon will both start AND finish in the City. It's hoped that this will add to the excitement for runners and spectators alike.

Des Whelan is Waterford Viking Marathon Chairperson and MD of WLR, the event's media partner.Β  He said:

The 2022 Viking Marathon finishes in the city for the first time, and this will add greatly to the excitement and atmosphere for runners and spectators alike. Waterford is not only be the best place to live in Ireland but also a great place to run
