Two men in their 40s have been arrested following an assault in Waterford City on Wednesday night (September 22nd).
A man in his 50s was found lying on Hanover Street between O'Connell Street and the Quay at approximately 8.50pm.
The man was bleeding heavily from his head and was brought to University Hospital Waterford, where he was in a serious but stable condition.
The area was sealed off on Friday morning in order to conduct a forensic examination but re-opened shortly afterward.

Gardai confirmed that a man in his early 40s and a man in his late 40s were arrested earlier today and are currently being detained at Waterford Garda Station.
