Phone stolen from boy in Dungarvan's skate park

A boy had his phone stolen during an incident in Dungarvan's new skate park recently.

It happened at around 4 o'clock on Sunday afternoon at the facility on John Treacy Street.

Speaking on this week's Waterford Garda Watch, Garda Chris Murray gave the details.

Two older males approached the boy around 4pm and took the phone from his pocket.

The pair then left on a mountain bike.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Dungarvan Garda Station," Garda Murray said.

It's not the first time anti-social behaviour has been an issue in the skatepark.

In September, people in the area had been concerned with the amount of litter being left behind.

There were also issues regarding alcohol and drug use.

Parents have questioned who is responsible for the policing of the amenity - with local councillors inundated with calls as a result.

Cllr. Conor McGuinness conducted a survey on how the park should be policed.

Over 100 people took part, but WLR know of no updates regarding this.

To contact Dungarvan Garda Station, call 058 48600.
