Two vehicles and 20,000 euro in cash were seized during a Garda operation in Waterford this week.

Patrols and searches were being carried out in the city and county as part of Operation Thor.

The focus of the week was on controlled drug-related offences and the proceeds of criminal activity.

A number of drug offences were detected and from one house alone, two vehicles with a combined value of €70,000 were seized, along with cash to the value of €20,000.

As well as in the city, searches were also carried out by drug units and detectives in the Dungarvan and Tramore districts.

The Armed Support Unit, the Dog Unit, and the Mounted Unit were all involved in the operation.

Operation Thor was first introduced in 2015 with the aim of tackling the increase in burglaries that usually happen during winter months.
