Waterford TD Marc O Cathasaigh says it’s “a difficult day” for his party and they have “not performed well”.

The Green Party TD said he is “questioning where they have gone wrong as a party”.

“It seems clear there’s very little I could have done in a local context,” he said.

He believes he has “accomplished a huge amount”.

“I’m extremely proud to have been involved in the last government,” he said.

He says “existential issues” have not gone away and he hopes the Green Party will be represented in the 34th Dail.

”The Green Party in government did the work but we failed to communicate the work,” he said.

He said the issue of Waterford Airport arose on many doorsteps.

“The Airport definitely damaged me. I stand by my position and we’ll see where it goes from here.”
