West Pharmaceutical Products Ireland Ltd (West Pharma) has confirmed a number of jobs are to go at their Waterford facilities.
They say changes in demands are behind the decision.
The premises in Waterford is the multi-national's newest and most advanced facility, according to the company.
In a statement to WLR News, West Pharma say they temporarily moved to a 24/7 production schedule during the pandemic to meet the increased demand for the Covid vaccination programme.
As such, they took on more staff to do this.
However, now that the demand has reduced again, weekend working will be removed as of the 31st of December.
They say this will have an impact on a number of positions.
The company will provide all required job-replacement support and additional support as needed, as they say they're very appreciative of the roles played by these team members at the height of the pandemic.
West Pharma say they won't be commenting on the exact number of jobs affected.
