Elaine Walsh, Owner of Duine Beag Childcare Facility in Dunhill, spoke to Damien about the childcare measures that were announced in Budget 2023.

It was announced that childcare costs would be subsidised, meaning some families could save up to 25% on their fees.

This will not apply to those who are considered to be a low income family.

Damien and Elaine discussed how this change will affect those in the industry as well as others who might be affected.

Elaine says she is hearing almost everyday that baby rooms in childcare facilities are closing.

Staff is a huge issue for the childcare sector, as well as core funding.
