It's hoped that Wexford General Hospital's emergency department will be operational again by the end of June.

The effects of a fire at Wexford General Hospital are still being felt at University Hospital Waterford.

A temporary tent remains in place due to excessive pressures on services at A and E.

Speaking on Deise Today, Minister for Mental Health and Older People, Mary Butler says its an unfortunate situation, but it cannot be avoided.

"We have to look at facts. There was a major fire at Wexford General Hospital on March 1st and they're only able to take 60% of their capacity now."
