Waterford author Brian Kennedy tells Damien that his book takes in the 60 year history of the Waterford Soccer Referees Society from 1961-2021, with many well known names and places cropping up over the 300 pages.

Refs, Cheers & Kegs of Beer is the local author's 14th book in 17 years. Others include Confessions of an Exeter City Nut, Radio Blaa Blaa, Just follow the floodlights and That Summer in Dublin.

It documents the dearly departed John Waldron, Gene Roche, Jimmy O’Neill senior and Willie O’Callaghan , Mattie Stafford etc , along with "Men in Black" like Ian Paul, Dick O’Hanlon, Mickey Lee, Noel Breen, Robbie Finn, Jim O’Neil Junior.

Brian says the book launch in The Tower Hotel is sold out this Saturday the 27th but the book will go on sale this Sunday in the Book Centre in John Roberts Square.
