Not a bad weekend's work for the Tooranena man in Hawaii.
19 under, four rounds under 70, a share of third place, and an improvement of 14 places in the world rankings. Add that all up and it spells a fairly profitable trip to the Aloha State in early January.
If you look at the world rankings from this day in 2021, Seamus didn't make the list of 300. He was somewhere in the 400's at that point.
Twelve months later and he has claimed his first PGA Tour title, placed top 10 on multiple occasions, and cracked the world's top 50 for the first time in his career - with a trip to Georgia looking all the more likely.
Having played the Sentry Tournament of Champions for his seasonal opener (a tournament he couldn't have been at without his win at the Barbasol last summer) he claimed a share of 15th.
He claimed $132,500 last weekend, while overnight he picked up a cool cheque for $442,500.
With his new world rankings spot, Seamus looks set to tee it up at the Masters in April. According to the Masters website, "The 50 leaders on the Official World Golf Ranking published during the week prior to the current Masters Tournament" will qualify for the event in Augusta.
As long as Seamus maintains his position these next two months, he will be joining the rest of the field for the most prestigious tournament in golf.
Speaking after his final round yesterday, Seamus said that overall he was pretty happy with how the weekend went.
"It was kind of up and down, it was poor today, and I was a bit disappointed with it. The putter kind of got hot - but it's interesting, that's just golf sometimes isn't it? Yesterday I didn't miss a shot, but couldn't quite get puts going until the end, and today I made nice puts on 1, 2, 4, and a few others there too. I feel like it balanced out. Obviously, I wasn't able to get it going to keep up with some of the guys there today to keep up with some of the guys, but overall a good week"
This coming weekend, he will line up once again on the PGA Tour when he makes his start at the American Express at PGA West.
