There was rarely more than a score between the sides with a 5 star performance from former All-Star Austin Gleeson going a long way to secure the John Meaney managed side a place in the last four.

Gleeson, who had a barnstorming game hit 1-3 from play in the opening half while converting a crucial penalty in the second.

Mikey Cummins, who was outstanding for Passage, had the game’s opening goal after 11 minutes following good work by Thomas Connors.

However, just minutes later, Gleeson careered through the heart of the Passage defence to shoot his opening goal and level the game.

A second Passage goal arrived in first half injury time when a long delivery from John Whitty appeared to be bundled over the line by full-forward Liam Flynn. That allowed Passage to lead 2-8 to 1-9 at the break.

When Austin Gleeson sent his penalty low to the net with 47 minutes played, it put ‘Sion 2-15 to 2-10 ahead and looking likely winners.

However a third Passage green flag, this time from Killian Fitzgerald, helped level the scores with full time approaching.

In the end, a late Stephen Roche point proved the winning score for the Monastery men
