"Thankfully, we're both part of the defence!" Power sisters ready for the league

Sisters Hannah and Eve Power from St Pats will take the field for the Waterford ladies in Sunday's Division 1 opener against Kerry.

Hannah returned to the inter county scene last year. "I was part of the senior panel in 2016 and 2017 and I stepped away for a few years. I was in college in Cork, different things took priority. I took a few years of a break from the professionalism of the inter county set-up. Back now again."

Younger sister Eve is in her second year on the squad but they don't get to mark each other in training. "Thankfully, we're both part of the defence!"

The Déise survived relegation play-offs in both league and championship last year. Power says that they have been training hard over the winter. "We've had the fierce cold, we've had the rain, we've had every type of weather. Training has been tough! We've been really lucky to have the facilities down in Carriganore and Piltown."
