Thomas Ahern to train with Ireland senior squad for first time

Ardmore man Thomas Ahern will train with the Ireland senior squad for the first time as Andy Farrell's men prepare for their Autumn Nations Series fixtures with Japan, New Zealand and Argentina in November.

The 6'9 second row is one of two development players named in the squad, alongside Leinster's Jamie Osborne.

Ahern has been in fine form for Munster as he racks up more senior minutes, and has been tipped as a star of the future for Irish rugby given his starring role for successful Irish U-20 sides.

The first of the three games begins on Saturday November 6th when Ireland face Japan at the Aviva. A week later sees the visit of the mighty All-Blacks, New Zealand before the series ends at home to Argentina on Sunday November 21st.

Two uncapped players have been included in a squad for the first time - those being Leinster's Ciaran Frawley and Dan Sheehan.

Simon Zebo has also been included in an Ireland squad for the first time since 2017 as a result of his powerful performances for Munster since his return to the province.
